| Coming Up with a Great Christmas Present Idea |

Every year I face the same dilemma of finding a Christmas present idea
for my husband as the holiday season approaches. Christmas does not
hold many happy memories for my husband due to the frequent fights
between his parents that happened as he was growing up. On the other
hand, my memories of Christmas are filled with family gatherings, great
food and gift giving.
I wanted to help create better holiday memories
for my husband by starting some traditions of our own. Coming up with a
unique Christmas present idea each year is one of the traditions I
started to create wonderful Christmas memories for my husband.
For me, presents should be things that the person wants but does not necessarily need. The holiday time is not a time to be practical with what you should give to another person. I got this idea from my mother. We did not have very much money when I was growing up, but my mother made Christmas time always special by the gifts that she would give us.
She was not extravagant in the Christmas present idea that she presented to each of us, but the gifts were always a luxury item rather than a practical item. I used to get extra doll clothes or a piece of jewelry when I was young.
It can be difficult to come up with a Christmas present idea for a man. My husband does not wear cologne or jewelry. He loves to hunt and fish, but he usually buys what he needs himself. Since his birthday is in the fall, I usually get him something for his outdoor hobbies at that time.
We started the tradition of putting something in each other’s Christmas stocking throughout the month of December a few years ago. I would buy special chocolates and other gourmet snack treats along with special packets of coffee for my husband.
His brothers and friends have given me a good Christmas present idea in the past few years, but I have yet to think of anything this year. I hope that I will find a unique and special item during one of my shopping trips. My husband has given me so many beautiful pieces of jewelry and other special gifts through the years, so I want to continue to surprise him.
Unfortunately, many of the things that are advertised as special gifts during the season are out of my budget. My husband and I have decided to set spending limits each year so that we would not end up paying for Christmas gifts into the summer months. A special Christmas present idea is not special because of its high price, but because of the thoughts and spirit of love that it represents.
